Greater Therapy Centers Physical and Occupational Therapy programs focus on individuals with general orthopedic injuries or injuries to the muscles, joints, spine and skeletal system.  A list of common injuries and problems can be found below.  These injuries or dysfunctions can occur as a result of surgery, injury, chronic disease, and overuse syndromes.

Therapy is designed to provide you with a customized program that will work to address problems and goals as determined by you, your physician and your therapist.  These goals may include decreasing or eliminating pain, improving joint motion and overall movement, improving strength and returning to daily activities and function.  Our goal when you attend therapy is to return you to the activity or activities that have become difficult or impossible to perform as a result of your injury or problem.  We wish to work with you in establishing these goals and ensuring that your program is doing everything it can to reach these goals in a very time and cost-efficient manner.

When you attend one of Greater Therapy Centers 6 locations you will be welcomed by an inviting, relaxed atmosphere and greeted by a friendly front office staff.  You will have been assigned a physical or occupational therapist depending on your needs and your physician’s orders, and after filling out a small amount of paperwork, you will meet individually with your therapist.

During this initial encounter with your physical or occupational therapist, a medical history will be taken and problems will be identified verbally.  Measurements of the joints and muscles involved in the injury or problem will be taken and assessed.  These measurements, along with the expected values, will be discussed with you, and an assessment will be made of your overall condition.  As a result of the objective findings and the assessment of these findings, a treatment plan will be proposed and implemented.  Typically this initial encounter takes approximately 1-1.5 hours.
During the treatment phase of your therapy, it is important to remember that there is no set regimen of exercises for a specific condition or injury, as each person and specific injury or problem is unique.  It is critical to your recovery that you communicate with your therapist, follow their instructions, or let them know if you are unable to perform what is asked.  This allows the therapist to monitor your progress and modify the exercises to fit your evolving requirements.
